There's this cool lookin' free to play thing on the STeam
it has old compooter graphics , something ZX Spectrum, somewhat well identifiable, but it is cute lookin and allright maybe why don't y'll take a gander ; * )
It's all the ufn with the convenience of chat rooms. Playing a few games will rapidly teach you strategies and concepts integral to the game, like chess strategies.
One difference between it and shadow is that the most common medic role doesn't die when they protect a victim of an attack. This leads to starting night detective roles will "claim" their role and call for the doc to stay anonymous and go on them. One risky but popular mafia/occult strategy is to "counter claim" and say your investigation showed someone to be innocent/villager. These kind of strategies are known by the whole player base so it's an elevated form of the same kind of plain silver tongued group manipulation, but elevated like on a rickety wooden structure you lay platforms on with every word.
It's pretty fun. It's very early in development to be paying such a tag, but with the promise of more to come, it should be pretty good when it's finished.
Zombies don't respawn outside of a server reset and are rare outside of towns/bases/etc. due to the fact they clip through walls and floors etc. so there is literally nowhere to hide. You kill them or you run.
Server reset also refreshes all loot to be found, most of which hasn't been given a function yet. But hey, it's early times. I can keep my bundles of rope, handcuffs and portable gas stove for later. If you are in or near a millitary base or hospital, you basically struck a goldmine. Just be careful other players aren't headed your way.
You start out with clothes and a torch. You can find rotten fruit very commonly, as it can poison you instead of actually getting rid of hunger. Soda cans, Water bottles, Cereal, Rice, Canned food, fresh fruit etc. are less common but will be the best thing you can come across after you get some gear you don't want to lose. As a friend of mine says, "If you can find fresh fruit, you are a god amongst men."
Millitary bases are where the fun is at. They have the weapons and gear, so expect a lot of players around them. And the general rule people have is "Shoot first, loot corpses later". If you have gear, you're a target. Generally speaking.
All road signs are in Russian, which means if you're in skype/teamspeak/etc, meeting up with your team can be troublesome at times. For me, it only added to the fun of "When I find you I am going to punch you in the head". (Tip: You can knock someone unconscious with one punch to the head. Be careful about that.)
Vehicles aren't implemented yet, and while weapons are common, the variation still leaves a lot to be desired. There are attatchments, but with every base I've gone to having at least 3 M4A1s there's not too much excitement in that regard.
if you want a taster, they are selling the ARMA II which you'll need for the DayZ mod for 6 quid along with other games released by the same developer - https://www.humblebundle.com/weekly
If you ever watched the movie fear and loathing las Vegas you can almost see the druggie mindset and everyone I know hates tweakers so we were all talking about starting a reality show called tweaker wars who can fix the car that has something simple wrong with it and see who can fix the truck with the least parts taken out and how far they can carry the engine block by hand and replace it but I guess this could be a game....
i like what i see in Fran Bow then it dawned on me that it reminded me of an old pc point&click, Emily Enough which started me on the path of abandonware games, consuming everything in its path.
differences aside, i find it intriguing that Fran Bow is deemed as endearing and charming when Emily Enough, which tackles very similar topics and presented in very similar ways, comes attached with over-the-top warning labels (to the point of being offensive) by those that play and review the game. i assume it has something to do with "black humour" that is found in the latter but surely it can't be true?
personally, i found Emily Enough charming *because* of the humour quotient (and probably the only reason i played it).
anyway, this wasn't that long ago , circa 2006, but even then the internet was a much different beast than it is now. now, i don't know what it is.
play them from these respective sites:
fran bow - http://franbow.com/download-demo/
emily enough -http://www.adventuregamers.com/articles/view/18165
i'm also pleasantly surprised these sites still exist, especially when sites like gog.com (is this the only one of its kind?) ultimately makes abandonware games no longer the case since the publishers now see them as viable income all over again.
Spore fell short of every preconceived expectation I held for it. If they had created what was in my head when I first caught word of it in 2003 instead of stretching out the development process for what seemed like a decade, the world would be a better place.
Actually It was probably released too soon, another year or so of polishing would have made it into a game rather than a toy.
Its a very impressive toy, just not a very good game but it come close. I made it all the way through which considering I give up out of pure tedious boredom on 99.9% of games means its not terrible. I just didn't want to play it again when I got to the end, which is a bad sign for something big on the randomness.
kite wrote on Mon, 23 December 2013 15:28well if you want an mmo that's realy different give eve a try
"Different" is what reviewers say since saying "it's only different because smart people knew that idea would be a shit-idea, yet these retards went for it anyway" is too offensive and mean.
Possibly the closest D&D experience you can have on the web. holy shit, this was awesome fun. GO PLAY.
I love card games, I love turn-based strategy but most of all, I love humour. This puts all 3 of those components into a heap of awesomeness but best of all, you can play it straight from the freaking browser.
Main premise: You are somehow teleported to a parallel universe where you are playing with Gary (your dungeon master) who jumps you right into a game where your team (warrior, wizard, priest) have already levelled up and now faced with scary enemies and dun-dun-dun, a dragon boss thing. I'm guessing this is the tutorial level but there's not much handholding. turns out, you were playing with Gary's brother's stuff and he gets pissed. So now you're at the character picking screen, you're level 1 and the real game starts with Gary grunting and pondering quizzically at every encounter. Every now and then, someone delivers a pizza or Gary's brother butts in. It's hilarious.
I mean, I've tried other similar games before and the best I could find was https://www.wizard101.com which remains a firm favourite for their really simple but well thought out game design; the only downfall being I had to load into windows and launch an executable. Also, the 3D graphics were not happy with my machine.
So this. This Card Hunter game totally came out of nowhere and blew me away with its accessibility and excellent execution. Seriously, guys. I haven't even looked behind the curtains or know anything about the developers so this is a totally unbiased opinion from just 4 hours of gameplay. Uhm, yea I'm going to go stalk who made this now.
ps: It's in closed beta at the moment so I guess I was lucky enough to get a peek!
pps: You don't actually get to roll ANY dice but the computer does it for you.
ppps: There's actually multiplayer so you can play with (against PVP?) other people. You can also just spectate and watch, which is neat.
The only valid reason for making games nowadays is to share your experiences with the cold and unfeeling cisgendered world and finally declare your gender independence
So I hope everyone here will join me in congratulating Dustin Gunn on his/her 10 year voyage of self discovery that you too can experience by playing his/her autobiographical game.
I honestly can't make enough time in my week for all this potential fun. I have tried to have fleeting affairs with video games: to use them once or twice and throw them away. I've tried and it feels wrong. I seem to be some sort of romantic flub and want something I can invest in heavily and learn every nuance of as I play though.
can you guys make a gaem that involves flippin pancakes. that would be awesome.
oan here's a yummy recipe for banana oat pancakes:
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 cups milk
1 cup oats

1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder

-add bananas, flour and baking powder and puree a few seconds more
-heat a bit of cooking oil in large nonstick pan, pour batter, and cook on medium heat till airbubbles appear, then flip
Aww, playing it seems a bit painful for my comp. It's a game with a micro resolution and NES graphics and sound, so why?
Edit: I just can't play it, actually. Horrible input lag, music not working properly, etc. Must be coded horribly or something. I know my comp is old, but it's a Megaman FFS.
"We're just trying to gauge interest at this point," Salazar shared with us. "It's considerably more expensive to put out the sequel and we need to sell a lot more of the first game on PC to begin to justify it."
This isn't a game I'd play unfortunately. I did a mission and there felt like no challenge or risk of failure, when you need more time you just go pray at a shrine, it's kinda like hitting a win button repeatedly.
Here's a game. It's not new, but it's fun.
Basically it's like hide-and-go-seek except with murder, and only one person hides, and they can hide in plain sight because they're like 95% invisible.
It's more fun to play with people you know than with 12 year old gender-ambiguous strangers with microphones, so get it and fill a server with niggers you know.
Why are we still discussing about jtab? He's mudded. Powerless. For 100 days. If it encourages him to post interesting suggestions, let him do. There will be plenty of other occasions to call on him.
jtab, don't you dare respond to them. Your negative karma shines too brightly here, it will only attract more drama.
it's got the awesome and simple "one button does everything you will ever need to play this game" navigation that i greatly admire and like when it's done right.
my score, however, is ridiculously low and beatable - 3739.
About 11000 points at my third if it can make you feel better. Damn false sense of confidence because I'm not a one-hit point wonder.
Do more combos if you have a hard time getting points, they are pretty rewarding. Prefer working on a vertical/horizontal line rather than throwing in a diagonale, because you'll have a hard time retrieving the tomb if you don't.
had a little play and it was fun shooty type platformer thing with a totally rad style. by the way, you just need the arrow keys to move (down arrow to change weapon) and the spacebar to shoot.
ignore the in-game navigation; it's prolly just an alternative to gamers more used to using wasd instead of the arrow keys. i personally prefer the latter.
very interesting! but i can't think of a single genre i hate. or subgenre within a genre. or anything within that. still, this i will be keeping tabs on, thanks!
i find if you move to a different tab and not watch the animations, the fights end faster due to flash not rendering everything on screen. flash, you *!^%!%^$!^%#$<3.
When the first XCOM on the amiga came out it destroyed office productivity for a couple of days. Everyone pretty much downed tools and played it to the end once or twice.
This one obviously looks prettier I just hope the gameplay hasn't been lost.
I guess I'm a sucker for destructible levels, reminds me of mayhem(amiga) which I plan to rip off at some point.
I'm also so old that I know Dan and Rob the original devs of Armalyte, no idea how good the remake is but the original was an excellent shooter for its time.
beta was just released for kickstarter backers, so it should be coming out soon. it's pretty good.
it's not a big deal of a game, just a little randomized gauntlet run through space with a fleet chasing you. upgrade/unlock ships, manage power, order crew around, fire lasers, etc
give these guys your money and play it if you like to target the oxygen system of an alien spaceship with ion bombs and just keep hitting it in that one spot over and over until everyone on board slowly suffocates alone in the darkness of space where their filthy mantis families will never see them again

Kinda hoping this is good as the original
This one obviously looks prettier I just hope the gameplay hasn't been lost.

You could probably manage a version of dragons lair on youtube nowadays

and the live site http://bundle-in-a-box.com/
A few interesting games in there, for instance

I guess I'm a sucker for destructible levels, reminds me of mayhem(amiga) which I plan to rip off at some point.
I'm also so old that I know Dan and Rob the original devs of Armalyte, no idea how good the remake is but the original was an excellent shooter for its time.

I was keeping an eye on this even when I thought it was just some crappy jrpg however it sounds like it might actually be more interesting than that.

beta was just released for kickstarter backers, so it should be coming out soon. it's pretty good.
it's not a big deal of a game, just a little randomized gauntlet run through space with a fleet chasing you. upgrade/unlock ships, manage power, order crew around, fire lasers, etc
give these guys your money and play it if you like to target the oxygen system of an alien spaceship with ion bombs and just keep hitting it in that one spot over and over until everyone on board slowly suffocates alone in the darkness of space where their filthy mantis families will never see them again
So I'm not sure I can bring myself to try it.
Then I discovered this, which seems even more complicated and looks even worse

so you will probably like that one too
well hold on let me rephrase it
that game looks awful AND looks like it is awful
edit: speaking of space gaems, this one provided me with fun times - http://www.digital-eel.com/sais/
