Webcomic

So there is this webcomic I read and I realy enjoy it. It one of the few comics that I have ever read where once I was up to date on it, I went back and read it again becuase I liked it so much.

http://www.skindeepcomic.com/

The first 3 and a half chapters look prety crude becuase the creator was scanning drawings done with pencil. Halfway through chapter 4 the artist switches to digital drawings and you can see a dramatic improvement with the art style.

I hope you enjoy.

Hippocampus. Those were in LaTale. They were so adorable! But they gang raped you every chance they could.

I just read the entire thing. I was rather amused, it's very good! Kind of a Harry Potter vibe, but the characters are adorable. Oh, and accent differentiation is great too, it makes the characters more... Uh... For the lack of a better term/phrase - real.

Coal_Burr, you are not so bad after all. Which is why I hate you now. You can redeem yourself by posting old memes or an ugly penis/vagoo. The choice is yours and yours alone.

All webcomic writers are autistic attention whores who just want money and fame over the internet.
They do this by repeating the same unfunny jokes over and over.
So it's kind of like wetv, except they get money (donations and merchandise) from it.

You're thinking about "comedic comic-strips", like SMBC or VGCats. Manga/Anime writers/artists are basically in the same boat, just with a 100% more UGUU. But yeah, they are all autistic. That's why autistic sounds like artistic.

I am going to act out of character and say something serious.
You don't know shit about anime writers and artists.
Most manga writers do suck, but that's more of a result of the sheer number of the losers in Nipland.

A lot of webcomic artists make their webcomics becuase they are unemployed or working part time. By making a webcomic, it allows possible art companies to look at their work. By having a regularly updated webcomic and staying in contact with their comunity, it shows to companies that they have work ethic, can finish their work on time, and have comunication skills.

Once they get their job, they stop acting like the semi homeless beggars that they were and start acting with the dignity that comes with being an employed artisit.

WHY IS COAL_BEAR MOIST TRUTHINESS I DO NOT UNDERSTAND - I just noticed.

Also, all artists are homeless beggars for life. That's what makes them artists. When they die they become famous. It's like, a total fact, bro.

this should be a sticky.

i read this webcomic every now and then when i remember - http://lovecraftismissing.com/?p=930

and i will say, the level of dignity does not increase when you become an employed artist. shit still sucks.

except you know, slightly richer. unless you're xkcd.

Basically this. That either leads to an author offing himself or living in a bin.

Though to me, there's something oddly poetic/elysian about being a Reclusive Artist.

From inside a box,

Boot polish. Only jockey douches wear black socks, and jockey douches are the exact opposite of faggy nerds.

In an attempt to change the topic back to webcomics that we enjoy...

Another webcomic I read regularly is called String Theory http://www.stringtheorycomic.com/

I'm very interested in its story and the backdrop of the story. It takes place in the not too distant future and there is reference to how the main characters grandfather may have purposely or accidentally wiped out Chicago with a virus.

Also something about parts of the united states being irradiated I don't know.

So far most of the story has taken place in a prison. This comic, like the one I mentioned earlier, has a nice mix of action, seriousness, and comedy, but a significant lack of the main character feeling sorry for themselves.

My favorite parts are when the main character starts to hallucinate. Its a great combination of seeing the real world in combination of the hallucinations and seeing events as to why the main character acts in the manner he does.

http://nedroid.com/ This has to be the cutest and most endearing web comic I've ever read. Very surreal, doesn't take itself seriously, but it still reserves itself from over-the-top audacity.

Really, it's a nice break from all those other web comics I read that are all about FUCK YEAR EPIC AWESOMENESS BYAAAAAA.

http://www.astray3.com/ i just found and the art is fantastic. the story seems, well, it flows well and is beginning to look very interesting. i just realised i said absolutely nothing about the comic at all. well, no spoilers and such is the rule. but this person can definitely draw and write.

for those who like pulpy-scifi, heavy metal comics.

I know nothing about web comics. I totally can not stand to wait and wait and wait and... WAIT for another piece of a story.. I would rather find something complete to look at, than wait for pieces of something that may have no end.
What if the writer dies in a tragic Erotic asphyxiation accident? What will you do then?!

You can always read the gag-a-day ones, though the only webcomic that seems to be doing it right is Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal

I'm not a furry. I just thought it'd fit the "web comics " motif.
I can't stand comics unless they are a single panel and can hold their own as a standalone work. A rolling story that goes on and on and on week to week, or day to day will lose my interest in a hurry. Those comics they put in the paper that require you have read the previous panels always seem to die out.

Breaking Bad is a cool show and I made an effort to watch the episodes as they came out, but even my enjoyment of the show wasn't enough to keep me coming back to see the next episode.. in fact I stopped watching it a few episodes into season 2. I tried, it failed. Give me the whole show, comic, book series, etc in a complete package. That's what I want.

i concur with athen's statement. uhm, the whole "read at one go" thing. same goes with tv series really. episodic is good. plot just kills it. x-files is an example. i digress!

I disagree with Athens. Kinda. I like short things, but SOME storyline based comics are quite worth the read. EX: http://blackadventurescomic.com/2010/10/29/episode-01-part-01/

It follows the game loosely, except it has a fanny-fan-fannerson-twist on it. So if you like seeing Panty and Stocking jokes/cross dressing, you will probably enjoy this. Oh, and I guess if you like Pokemon you'd like this too. Yeaaaaaah.
