I think these game and green subtext fonts are hard to read.

You need to balance the brightness and contrast on your screen. That's why the lettering blends with the background and such.
Is one I reference for a quick check of color balance.. You should see all the changes of color on that map, the reds in Texas and oranges through the Tennessee area tend to blend on some monitors.
Do the same for your greys (grays).
